About The Artwork
In the ancient Multnomah tribe, Mount Hood was known by the name Wai'ist. According to one legend, between the sons of the Great Spirit, Wai’ist and Pakhto, a fierce battle broke out for the love of the beautiful Luwith. An angry Great Spirit turned all three into mountains - Pakhto became Mount Adams, Luvit became Mount St. Helens, and Wai’ist became Mount Hood.
