the pearl is the oyster’s autobiography Painting

The Pearl series is inspired by the production and formation of natural pearls. Layers of acrylic and found objects are built up over time. Each sheet of paint is allowed to dry and then ripped apart by hand. The pieces are either set aside to be used as collage/assemblage pieces, or layered into more acrylic. The process is repeated until the desired shapes, colors, and forms are produced. The pieces are then sorted by size and applied to watercolor paper which has been painted with gouache or soft watercolor pigments. All works in this series are framed and matted in a deep shadowbox type frame. Frame dimensions are included in dimensions given.
