the very thought of you Painting

Art is my lifeline of expression. I paint to bring my inner self out. Stories inspire me to make my art. This is either my story viewed through my subjects’ eyes or their story viewed through mine. More often than not, my subjects are heroines. My paintings represent what I sense to be heroic about women and nature; my subjects tend to be ideas or emotions surrounding these ideals captured in a moment. Like a snapshot. The play of perspective is paramount to me. That is the common thread in my art: the perspective of a story or the perceived inner thoughts of the subject. I view every story as having multitudinous perspectives that are as varied as the person perceiving them, and I aim to represent more than one in each detailing. Every canvas represents my desire to be more than I am at any given moment. My art allows me to live outside myself and my trappings, enabling me to either unwrap a mystery or create one. Through each layered work, I can reveal my commentary on the plight of humanity, of gender, of time and space. I am at least a facet of each of my paintings by creating them I have been taken to a different place and time. While oil is my primary medium, my style continues to develop over time. Each piece depicts a fluctuation, a growth, of self. My intuition guides my artistic evolution; a cathartic expression that pushes me farther from structure and pulls me closer to abstract as my true self emerges. When commissioned for pieces, I take my time for study and repose to see as many facets of the subject as possible. In regard to the pieces mused wholly from my own consciousness, an image or series of sensations will click repeatedly within me. As the inner workings of a lock click into synchronization, I’m compelled to turn the key and make it mine.
