About The Artwork

An experimental artwork that transforms canvas into watercolor paper through a unique medium. The artist navigates uncertainty with water and pigment, allowing the paint to slowly merge and dry in a meditative process. The outcome remains unknown, as the deliberate use of water introduces an element of unpredictability to the creation. Materials: My paintings are made with professional quality acrylic and oil paints (Golden, Schmincke, Winsor & Newton, Amsterdam, Cobra). Copyrights: The content and works provided on these Web pages are governed by the copyright laws of Germany. Duplication, processing, distribution, or any form of commercialization of such material beyond the scope of the copyright law shall require the prior written consent of its respective author or creator.

Julia Shanaytsa art practice is diverse, encompassing both illustration and painting. Julia enjoys experimenting with color, shape, geometry, and genre, often blending painterly and illustrative techniques in her work. As she puts it, "nine different artists live" within her. Julia Shanaytsa approaches her paintings with intuition and emotion at the forefront. She believes that women often rely on their gut feelings rather than logic, and this is reflected in the choices she makes in terms of color and brushstrokes in her work. Intuition is closely tied to sensory memory and helps us draw on relevant experiences from the past in the present moment. In her series "Yellow Mood," Julia depicts women in their environments while also introducing elements of fantasy and playfulness through her use of form and color. This series is inspired by classical works such as Rembrandt's "The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp," reimagining these scenes in a modern context. The paintings in this series are characterized by their theatricality, sense of play, and the way they capture the spirit of the times.
