Flowers are an intimate and private theme, like a secret poetic gesture. If Baudelaire uses poetry to investigate and strike the beauty of evil, here he resorts to painting to discover the Beauty of the flower and the Beauty of a pure pictorial gesture. Inspired by Monet who retired to Giverny to paint the water lilies that represented the link between the figurative painting bound by the boundaries of reality of the 19th century and the abstract painting made of colors and emotional pictorial gestures of the 1900s. In fact, the intent in this painting is to bring abstract painting closer to figurative painting. The idea of painting a flower allowed me to move with a lot of expressive freedom, without paying too much attention to the details of reality which sometimes limit painting. The thought of painting flowers is that of freely affirming a principle of Pleasure linked to the observation of the perfection of flowers and linked to the Pleasure of Painting colours, combining them, breaking them and spilling them on the canvas, under the simple and always recognizable form of a flower.
