walking Painting

People & body language are always a fascinating subject to me. I have accumulated a vast amount of people photos which I view & review to get inspired to then collage , to get compositions such as this one. This time I decided to lose the background... just work with the subject, the motion, some abstract... Washes & highlights & white overlay here to focus and to blur… to capture the movement I want in this image. I greatly enjoyed the process here … which has led to me thinking of more ‘walking ‘ possibilities. Acrylic on handmade Thai mulberry paper (kada sa), deckled edge, 21 x 31 in., 55 x 77 cm. The paper I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. The paper is a thick parchment type paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. Please note the uneven 'deckled' edges have been cropped away for the print. The close up pictures are to get a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress, and me with the painting for perspective.
