withdrawing from myth Painting

In January of year two of the pandemic I had back surgery and these paintings, part of an ongoing series that began as watercolor sketches that filled the pages of chap books, literally done from my healing bed. Months later back, before my easel, the paintings focused on a women’s body began. My paintings are whimsical in nature and are characterized by bold colors, simplified shapes, and a shallow depth of field. I paint in acrylic on linen, board and paper, in a variety of genres and sometimes incorporate, stenciling, charcoal and pastels, fabric , findings and more. The essence of the work is gleaned from years of keen observation, and the imagination, creating light with color while mindful of their placement on the canvas. My hope is that those viewing these paintings will embrace the fantasy, observing work that is true and believable — not only beautiful, but also intelligent. I have been painting for many years and they are the sum of all that I am.
