My work ® is a response to a large US corporate who is trying to infringe on my personal freedom of expression. I have created my own brand to highlight the problem. Copy right and trade marks are for the paranoid. Trade marks were set up so one could not go and trade as something similar or the same. But taking the trade marks and expressing a deeper social issue of economy or politics is also not allowed. Not with that brand at least. I believe this was an unintended consequence of the original law, it is abuse. It is important to capture the Kodak moments. It gives insight as to where we have been, where we are now and reflecting will propel us forward. There are a great deal of people who think that freedom of speech is under attack, and it is. But not from the source of which most people assume. The attack is coming from corporate entities. Artists need to make a stand and fight back otherwise freedom of speech and expression will fade into a dying light. We could never have had the pop art of the last century without the freedom to explore brands of social consequence.
