About The Artwork
In Spain, at the bottom of Mount Santa Tecla hill, A Guarda village is spread out. Everything can be seen from the mountain: the Atlantic Ocean into which the majestic Migno River flows and which serves as the natural border between Portugal and Spain; as well as A Guardia town and the Castelo de Santa Cruz fortress which was built to repel invasions. Along the path through a pile of stones a hermitic monastery ("Cova da Santa") can be found, where, according to legend, a certain saintess rested. If sailors disappeared into the boundless sea, family members lighted candles inside the monastery. By that, they prayed the saintess that the bodies of disappeared sailors be found.
