Part two of a diptych. Together with 'When will we dance together again?'. The coronavirus crisis has influenced my series ‘Dancing People’. For several years I have been painting a series in which I portray many people coming together. I call them "Dancing People" to reflect their movement. It is not about 'beautiful dancing' or a choreography. They are connected, touch each other and sometimes get entangled. People in my paintings express emotions through their movements. Which emotions these are depend on how the viewer feels at that moment. The figures on the canvas look each other up, they party and communicate. However, I also want to portray people in this current situation of social distancing. There are fewer figures on one canvas now, separated by thick orange lines on the floor for the 1.5 meter distance. A free interpretation has emerged of the people’s current limited movement, titled: "Introspective dancers". They are alone now, separated, but still connected with subtle horizontal lines. The vertical lines indicate shielding and say 'stay safe'. The current situation in society due to the crisis resulted in this large diptych: "Introspective dancers” and "When will we dance together again?", 2 paintings: 100x160 cm.

Artist ART Eva Maria -------------------------------------- SOURCE OF INSPIRATION "Looking at people's faces and trying to figure out how they feel and what they think - that is my source of inspiration. This mysterious aspect fascinates me. Afterwards I will tell my own story - in colours and lines - about these people using various visual tools." -------------------------------------- I see nature (both landscapes and faces) as a gift that shows itself to me. I'm trying to catch the feeling that's inside of me, while being an observator. -------------------------------------- Showing the reality is not important, it's my personal impression and emotion that I wish to communicate. This is a very intuitive process during which my hand glides on paper or canvas. This way I am able to tell my own story in layers, colours and lines. Afterwards the art is not mine anymore and open to other people's eyes, making new stories as well. I'm always searching for new ways for my art (small to large sizes, different techniques) to travel and show themselves to public.
