The martyr values the interests of their society above their personal welfare. As they prepare their terroristic plots they think to themselves, "you have a worthless life ahead of you, you can do something significant with your life, you will be enrolled in the hall of martyrs". In this way we can understand that terrorists are far from being lunatics; they rationally weigh the ideological benefits against self-sacrifice. This piece was inspired by my professional research into terrorism and the terroristic mindset prior to conducting an attack on civilian populations. The painting itself is done in acrylic and finished in a semi-gloss varnish. It is made to be framed, not stretched.
