About The Artwork

The terrifying visual impact on the soldiers as the flap in front of the barges opened and running across the beach, vulnerable, with little cover from the gunfire in front and the bombs from above. Available on stretched cotton canvas, actual size: 120x40 cm.

Time revisited ... Silent, delectable paintings to savour the eyes and awaken other sensory faculties. The simple joy of an everyday painter who flows with the time of the day and the seasons. With my paintings I bring the theme of time revisited. My true subject is light. It is the light that embodies the motive, brings to life the depth of the image, exploring the legacy left behind by the likes of Bonnard, Vuillard and Caillebotte. Children play on the beach in the space between the sky and the sea, a woman leans out of an open window, in another context she is reading in her garden with a glass of wine. At the table, a young woman is fully absorbed in her dream of the moment. Dreams are at the centre of my paintings. The painting is worked in overlaying layers of colour by playing with flashes of light which underscores the transparency of the air, for example, on a rainy day on the beach. The work is developed by an ardour and concentration to justify the expression rather than the photographic exactitude of the subject. I pay attention to the atmosphere and the inescapable trivia which together leave an impression of a lived-in eternity. Lost facing the immensity of the sea, children contemplate the movement of the water in a space which tells us of immateriality, a space with translucent colours which mirrors our own personal dreams. I work as often as possible in situ, alla prima. I am affiliated to La Maison des Artistes.
