About The Artwork
Everyone is ordinary, everyone is special. What is important? The simple things in life are very special. Little moments of happiness. A familiar, sweet and happy moment with your loved one. A nice conversation. A look at the sea or mountain. A person who says something very valuable to you. From my memory I depict these moments in a symbolic way, always emphasizing the person. I depict the human being or people (the other and 'me') in an abstract way. As a result, the emphasis is not on the specific appearance of a person, but on the emotion, the inner and the interaction between people. The paintings are expressive, with large lines and colors. The ordinary becomes special and the special becomes ordinary. Because society places a great deal of emphasis on performance and excellence, I find it important to emphasize the ordinary and the simple. That is why these series are called: Ordinary People. This woman I painted turned out to be a modern icon for me: a universal woman with universal feelings. I called her 'Maria'. Artist ART Eva Maria -------------------------------------- SOURCE OF INSPIRATION "Looking at people's faces and trying to figure out how they feel and what they think - that is my source of inspiration. This mysterious aspect fascinates me. Afterwards I will tell my own story - in colours and lines - about these people using various visual tools." -------------------------------------- I see nature (both landscapes and faces) as a gift that shows itself to me. I'm trying to catch the feeling that's inside of me, while being an observator. -------------------------------------- Showing the reality is not important, it's my personal impression and emotion that I wish to communicate. This is a very intuitive process during which my hand glides on paper or canvas. This way I am able to tell my own story in layers, colours and lines. Afterwards the art is not mine anymore and open to other people's eyes, making new stories as well. I'm always searching for new ways for my art (small to large sizes, different techniques) to travel and show themselves to public.
