About The Artwork
Margaret van Bekkum is part of a generation of contemporary Dutch felt designers. In her work she shows an intuitive feeling for design and explores new ways of combining felt with hot copper or gold. With her passion for exploring new possibilities she has left her mark on both product and interior design in the residential-, office-and health sectors. The unique tapestry Reliëf is handmade felted of sunset Yellow Merino Wool with a rolling reliëf of felt pearls. The artisanal process of felting is nicely rendered. The beauty, sensitivity and openness it takes to make what I love making is what I want to bring to all people interacting with a Margaret van Bekkum design. Inspiration to me, to be touched and to touch... Creating nature for the senses. A tapestry is not just for aesthetic effect but heightens the quality of conversation and deepens intimacy. This acoustic element supports attention by by minimizing distracting sounds in a space where we live in, having a meeting or want to have are own space. Beautiful acoustic, good acoustic in beauty!
