Sitting Bull Painting

An American legend, Sitting Bull was a Native American tribal chief who led a resistance to the US government's policies and by doing so, defended his people's land and way of life. He is considered the most powerful and famous of all Native American chiefs. I loved painting Sitting Bull. There is so much beauty in his etched features and pronounced cheek bones. His face alone tells his story. I hate to sell him. I feel like I've come to know him during this time of recreation. Alas, an artist must eat. This painting is quite large, 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The painting was created with oils and the glazing technique of applying layer after layer of translucent paint to create depth. It was finished with layers of glaze which helps to bring out the depth of colors. He took me two years to complete. Fun fact: He appears to be watching you from all angles!
