Two Trains (for Lowell George) Painting

This piece is inspired by the train traffic that would pass my window on the way to my studio in 2014. I became fascinated by the industrial landscape around Midland in Perth outer Eastern suburbs where there was once a Railway yard for the manufacture and repair of trains and began painting works that spoke of this landscape. The train markings were what drew me in and this series called Trainspotting is the result of those investigations. I hope viewers are reminded of their own experiences around trains and the images and memories that may evoke. I wanted to create rough layered works that were not dissimilar to the train carriage surfaces themselves. This piece is constructed from photos and memories.
