About The Artwork
This church , whose cornerstone was laid in 1943, is home to a Ukranian cultural center and whose characteristic dome lend a sense of old-world serenity and sensibility to the Point-St-Charles borough. As I sat on the side of the road to paint, I was approached by several friendly residents, one of whom invited me over for a traditional West-African meal. Plein air painting allows me to become acquainted with the visual impression of an area as well as to meet people who live close-by, allowing me a deeper connection to place.
