About The Artwork

This painting was started with the application of a coffee enema with acrylic medium. After many layers of acrylic paint and oil, I reached the final forms that gave rise to the title. The final layers were made with quarry sand, crude marble powder and with colors and a burlap shape. This painting was about to rest at the bottom of the dumpster, because the coffee enema returned to the surface again and again, making everything very dark. But for some reason I kept fighting until I got what was left. Moral of the story: never again in life coffee enemas to paint.

I am a self-taught abstract painter, for about ten years. I was born and live in Guayaquil, Ecuador and started painting in the patio of my house, until thank God I was able to build my own art studio on the outskirts of the city in a cozy bamboo hut with a small attic where I could rest after or between painting days. For me a blessing and a true dream of an art studio. I like to paint experimenting with different types of textures, papers and fabrics, elements that I try to implement in the composition in their natural states, as much as I can, combining them with oil and acrylic paint, and generally giving them the final finishes with oil pigment sticks and oil pastels. For me, abstract painting is above all a question of producing effects. Effects that cause an emotional impression on sight. And I believe that the painter must produce these effects and impressions with those mediums that win him the most. In my case, these mediums are both the textures and the stains achieved with colors and charcoal essentially.
