About The Artwork

The #588 is a work from the series 'irritations'. Like all OSTER+KOEZLE's works, it is a photograph of a spatial element that is so irritated by artificial, digitally added areas of solid coloration, that our perception of perspective and the recognizability of the textures only become apparent after closer inspection. The essential characteristic of this series of works is its degree of abstraction, which does not necessarily reveal the underlying spatial situation, but which gives rise to images of a high aesthetic quality. The use of high-matte museum cardboard and printing by using light-fast K3 pigment inks, in conjunction with recommended reflection-reduced UV-protective glass, promises an extremely long enjoyment of the original colors according to the state of the art. This piece of art is manufactured by the artist himself and contains signature(s), numbering and date on the frontside under the picture. Passepartout and framing as shown are recommanded examples and not part of the delivery.

SG Koezle and Willy Oster, a photographer and a painter, form the artist duo OSTER+KOEZLE since 1999. Since then their works are always about the topics of space and thus architecture, manifested in seven work series, all of which continue to this day. Their works are characterized by digitally altered photographs of rooms and achitectural elements, that make it nearly impossible to match the seen with the known and the viewer's experience.
