A Bridge in the Crow Creek Reservation Photograph

A work from "America in 5 Days" This summer I went across the country by car. It seems to be the only way to really see most of America, with the automotive industry making any other mode of ground transport across the country nearly futile. “America in 5 days” is a project that explores the traces left by humans on nature. The traces I choose to capture include bridges, cars, roads, railroads, and factories. They also include vague traces, such as human’s domestication of horses and dogs. The final two images show Norris Geyser Basin in Montana without a recognizable human trace. I wanted to include these as a nod to photography as a trace itself, and to the idea that we must sacrifice being near to these lands everyday if we want to keep them untouched.
