A set of 50 images, each an archival pigment print on heavy archival paper contained in a custom archival box They are sorta like baseball cards, only .... telephone poles. Faithfully captured over several years in and around Venice, California It started as a bit of a whimsy, but eventually defined itself in a more rigorous fashion. More often then not, the telephone pole is a spatial place holder, and the image is really about the background. Then again, the simple telephone pole might also work hard as town crier, announcing all manner of events to the world. It is a bit like a small hand made book, without the tyranny of an ordered set of pages. As a set of cards, it is also a game of sorts, although there are no rules. One way to enjoy is to make your own arrangements for diptychs, triptychs and beyond. This is not printed by offset press -- each image is printed in exactly the same careful fashion as my larger prints. Each is an archival pigment print. I have given each card a light coating of Hahnemuhle protective spray if you do choose to handle them. They come in a custom made archival quality box this is box #2 containing 50 cards from an edition of 50 boxed sets + 2 A/P a certificate of authenticity is included

I have worked most of my professional life in the movies. That experience has left me with an instinct toward a narrative in my photos. Not always as a straightforward story, but at least as a structure to organize pieces of an image to work together. I look to elevate the mundane in my work, to create an image that rewards repeated visits. Much of my work is a continuing portrait of Los Angeles. I moved to Los Angeles as a young man to go to UCLA Film School, and it turned into a lifelong adventure. I have collected some in my self-published book “Small Pieces of Los Angeles briefly Illuminated”.
