"A sphere of blinding brightness" 1973, Tangolunda, Bays of Huatulco, Oaxaca. Fish-eye photo not modified digitally. In 1973 we (my girlfriend Gertrud Majcen and I) spent our year-end 1973/74 vacation in the solitary Bay of Tangolunda. In those days Tangolunda was a paradise teeming with schools of fish and countless limpets clinging to the rocks. NASA had announced the arrival of comet Kohoutek and predicted it would fill half the sky. We longed to see it as a messenger of our connection to the cosmos and prepared for its arrival. In this frame of mind I photographed the sun from a cave on the beach of Tangolunda. Kohoutek, approaching the Earth every 10,000 years, was apparently not visible to the naked eye. Nevertheless, enchanted to have discovered the bays of Huatulco, we spent three magical weeks hiking and freediving the pristine beauty of Tangolunda and its surroundings. The 42 cm print comes in a limited edition of 9. Title, author and year of manufacture are included on the print. The print comes with a 1 cm white border.
