Steve Richard is an artist who uses the studio, human form and a camera to craft moments that are beautiful, dark and surreal. Steve’s visuals capture the imagination, challenge preconceptions, and merge a classical ethos with urban grit and 21st Century techno-savvy. His approach to creating art is more from the perspective of a sculptor than a photographer, spending hours making small changes in light and body line until the final image is perfect. With over 45 years of looking down the great abyss of creating art with a camera, Steve has established a solid personal dogma for his processes, including doing everything in-camera with little or no post-production. For Steve, photography is the process or set of tools he uses to create art, and most final images sell as one-of-one, unique pieces that only one person can own. Steve has lectured and presented in major photography centres like New York, Miami, Chicago, Toronto, London, Hawaii, Barcelona, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. In addition, his images have been exhibited internationally in galleries, magazines, publications, books and websites. He currently has three fine art photography books in print - Cloud Busting, Obscuro and Aerial.
