Alligator relaxing on the shore | Canvas Print Photograph - Limited Edition of 50

This image was captured on new year's day 2018 on a day visit to the Los Angeles Zoo. At the time, I had been temporarily been living with my mother on the east side of Los Angeles county. I had been staying in the area for the past 2 weeks whilst in transition and transit on my way back to the UK, my country of birth and permanent residence, after living full time in Australia for 3 years just prior on the hopes and dreams of securing a permanent resident's visa over there. Overall I spent just over a month living in Los Angeles, exploring the downtown and inner city suburb, became almost fluent in navigating my way around on the subway and the bus route that would take me from the suburb where I was staying into the downtown area to connect with the other means of public transportation around the county. As can be seen from this photo, our alligator friend here is basking in the bright and intense rays of the winter California sun, albeit with some shade and the waterline a mere slip slide away if so desired. I can certainly remember quite clearly that just a few days before this photography was taken, Los Angeles had been hit by a spell of unusually cold weather, cold that is for a usually warm to hot subtropical climate place. So, despite the initial uncertainty or out of the normal behaviour in the weather in the first half of my month long stay there, it all turned out great in the end for a warm weather seeker such as myself. This image turned out to be one of my favourite captures of the day. What with the uncertainty of what lay ahead when I returned to the UK to effectively start again from scratch, here I am in 2023 looking back to a place marker in time that this photo represents. I could never have imagined back then what could be positively achieved, experienced and built in the coming years starting again from almost nothing apart from the 2 suitcases that I was carrying with me all the way back home.
