About The Artwork

STER+KOEZLE's #663a is currently the most recent work from their 'rooms' series, which has been continuously developed since 1999. The simple room detail, taken almost in passing, is so irritated by the equally simple, artificial gray pane that it is almost reminiscent of their work series 'irritations (perspectives)' at first glance. Incidentally, a 1 m high version of this work is also available on request. In the 'rooms' series of works, images of rooms are irritated with an artificial, colored, black, grey or white surface. The visible parts of the room are usually in stark contrast to this artificial element. Here, however, this artifact becomes an almost integral part of the room through its coloring, irritating our perception all the more. The 'rooms' series tries to keep architecture recognizable and at the same time disturbs the viewer's recognition by solid colored panes, hiding part of the rooms and thus always keeping a secret.

SG Koezle and Willy Oster, a photographer and a painter, form the artist duo OSTER+KOEZLE since 1999. Since then their works are always about the topics of space and thus architecture, manifested in seven work series, all of which continue to this day. Their works are characterized by digitally altered photographs of rooms and achitectural elements, that make it nearly impossible to match the seen with the known and the viewer's experience.
