About The Artwork
BLUE EYES is from the series PORTRAITS FROM FUTURES PAST. It is a manipulated digital photograph that has been painted with acrylics and brush pens. The original photograph was made in Mexico. After manipulating the original in my computer and making this print I deleted that file and then painted the print with acrylics and brush pens. I then created the frame from recycled materials. I have visited and photographed and photographed these figurines several times over the past 20 years . They always affect me in a powerful way...seeming both ancient and futuristic at the same time. I have never desired to document them but rather to hop on, climb inside and see where they might tale me. The frames are created with inspiration from the folk art I've seen all over Mexico and Central America.
