About The Artwork

“Bag of Gold” Size: 10 3/4” X 7 7/8” X 5 3/4”    Sculpt in Clay ~ Cast in Bronze This is for all of you who love gold.... brokers, private investors, bankers, casinos, mining operators, and art collectors. When I was sculpting this piece, I had inspirational thoughts about those who invest in Gold throughout the world and some of my investment friends told me about people who catch “the Gold Bug”. I thought, “Wow, the investment world is fascinating!” In my mind’s eye as I was sculpting it. I saw it sitting on a beautiful executive office desk, credenza, or a special shelf somewhere for all to see. I could see it in a flagship bank lobby, or in a beautiful casino corridor where everyone walking by could enjoy looking at this piece. And I know that gold investors around the world will love to own this “Bag of Gold” because it speaks to you and your passion for gold investing. This beautiful bronze “Bag of Gold” will be a great conversation piece no matter where it's sitting. Even though this is a smaller piece of art, owning it makes a large statement! Only 164 “one of a kind” hand-Sculpted, limited addition Bronze pieces will be produced! Each “Bag of Gold” will be signed, numbered, and dated. Each “Bag of Gold” will be unique on to itself—each one slightly different from any other “Bags of Gold”. The rope tied around the “Bag of Gold” can be patina in almost any color you desire. You choose. (Just send me a color swatch and I'll do my very best to match it in a patina ~ You'll Love It.) I will also make an ever so slight change to some of the coins by using a different hand “$” strike making these coins look a bit different from any other coins. (Please note that all of the coins are independent and free of the “Bag of Gold”) For an additional charge, I”m also offering to hand mark on the backside of the “Bag of Gold”, and saying my client wants.—(providing it fits in the space.) Please call for a price quote per request. For every “Bag of Gold” sold, I will gift/donate $500.00 to families who have children suffering from the terminal devastation of Batten’s Disease or to the Batten Disease Research Foundation. These are families all around the world in great financial need for special equipment, drugs, and many other essentials just to deal with their child’s special needs every day. (I personally have witnessed a family with two boy’s Cameron & Mark both having Batten’s Disease and watching their folks struggling with insurmountable run-away monthly expenses.) I also would like to invite you, the fine art investor of this “Bag of Gold”, to consider matching my gift/donation by giving the same amount to a family or to the Batten Disease Research Foundation. My gifts/donations will be given in the names of Cameron & Mark It's my way of saying Thank You! because, without their friendship, I believe I would never have found my passion for sculpting. (Read the story about how and when I met these two boys and how I became a stone sculpture. You'll find it under “Bella” the Stone Turtle here on this website). Batten Disease reference link:www.bdsra.org The “Bag of Gold” is a must addition to your fine art collection. $6,888.88 plus shipping/handling & insurance to be quoted per destination. Thoughts from Rockos...The first time I put a mallet and chisel to stone, I was won over. Since then, spending endless hours of quiet time with only the stone and my own thoughts, I have come to know sculpting as truly a spiritual experience. It demands and it takes all of me. It takes me on a journey. It's a private place where ego is not allowed—a place where time is irrelevant—a place where I am intuitively tuned and aligned. It is a place I never knew existed. Please let me introduce myself. I'm Rockos. I am a Swiss/Italian boy from a large Catholic family. My upbringing would be best described in three words: noisy, chaotic, and wild. Amongst the family chaos, I found myself as a little boy with a passion for how things worked. It started off with finding old things that were often broken and discarded—taking things apart and trying to fix them the best I could. This evolved from a young boy to now, fixing and rebuilding everything from old farm tractors, construction equipment, hot rods, and fascination for restoring old turn-of-the-century houses and farmsteads. My life has always been about living in the country with lots of farm animals and growing vegetables. I love to see the chickens scurrying the driveway as I pull up in my re-built jalopy, it makes me smile. And yes, I do ride horses, as a little guy, I kicked dirt and rocks in my well-used cowboy boots…you know, the ones with the toes curled up…… *Note: please read "Education" to fill in my bio (because Saatchi doesn't give enough word count so to finish what one wished to write). As a young child and even a young man, I was the one who couldn't sit still. They described me as the child that was "bouncing off the walls". I was the one who was always getting into trouble; always the one at the Principal's office; always the one who was the biggest irritant to adults. Now I am on a whole new journey. It's a much quieter excursion and full of passion. Suddenly I am 66 andI'm so much more about being silent and in the present moment. Each time before I sculpt, I sit quietly in prayer… all my senses begin to open. It feels as if I’m becoming one with this stone that has existed long before me and will be here long after I am gone. There is an image in the stone that will speak to me before I begin, and as I wait patiently, it reveals itself to me in its own good time. Most perceive stone as being very hard and strong.
