Statement: In this day and age, when consumerism is still the word dominating our lives, this photographic study is my own personal allegorical interpretation of a future human being. It is not to say that brands and logos are necessarily a negative thing, but the idea of acquiring a certain popular trademark and a level of pride attached to it can be so strong with so many people that it forms part of their existence and might even influence their perception of other people around them. With these photographs, each one depicts one particular logo where it shows that, on a generational level, these people become so engrossed with the whole notion of a brand that just as a mole or a colour of their eyes they no longer need to acquire one, instead it is passed down on a genetical level from their ancestors meaning that they are born with it implanted under their skin. From day one of one’s life, a human being is no longer free in his choice but is 'branded' into a life with the option ‘chosen’ for him by his relatives. Just like every one of us has blue or brown eyes, dark or fair hair, a logo will be an ingrained part of a person as soon as he or she is born into this world and thus becomes an indelible part of our whole identity.
