Buck in Snow Storm #1 Photograph

During the winter months, the California Mule Deer do not hibernate as many other animals do. These deer forage for foods under the fresh covered snow. The bucks were very aware of my presence as I slowly approached them, but they are not generally afraid of humans in their space( in Yosemite Valley). If one moves slowly and quietly, they may just ignore our presence as these bucks did. The falling snow made for a very magical image . A photo tip; by using flash fill , I was able to give the snow flakes a bit more sparkle and a catch–light in the eyes. *I am honored that this photo was selected by the National Wildlife Association as one of their Christmas Cards.
