About The Artwork

Oxytocin (/ˌɒksɨˈtoʊsɪn/; Oxt) is a mammalian neurohypophysial hormone. Produced by the hypothalamus and stored and secreted by the posterior pituitary gland, oxytocin acts primarily as a neuromodulator in the brain. The photographic serie started exploring femininity, using white and red as symbols of blood, virginity, unity, birth and death. For artist’s personal experience the topic is something obscure and mysterious - wild and primal. Always interest in diversity she choose to represent the concept using unusual models and clean minimal images, where just the essence show through. The work explores intimacy and different stages of female evolution in life, birth, puberty, union, giving birth, death. The artist uses creation as a form of exorcism and an investigation of the self through an intense and provocative imagery, refusing the common looking for magic and intensity, so authentic, yet scary.
