About The Artwork

Colonel Mustard from the series Cluedo Medium edition of 7 + 2AP Certificate of Authenticity included. 50.8cm x 61cm including 1-2cm white border on all sides for easy mounting and handling. Cluedo is a series of images that explores the fragility and value of life. Not only how society values life but how we can value our own lives at different points. Inspired by William Blake’s poem The Fly, this piece flips the characters in the board game Cluedo on its head, the living (the suspects in Cluedo) are the dead in this series, “My thoughtless hand has brushed away” William Blake. The series juxtaposes the beauty of life and the seduction of aesthetics with death scenes, flipping the mind between one and the other in a blink of an eye, just as life can become death. Little Fly, Thy summer's play My thoughtless hand Has brushed away. Am not I A fly like thee? Or art not thou A man like me? For I dance And drink, and sing, Till some blind hand Shall brush my wing. If thought is life And strength and breath And the want Of thought is death; Then am I A happy fly, If I live, Or if I die. William Blake

It was whilst studying photography at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK that I found a passion for conceptual photography. My work draws on personal experience and a natural inquisitiveness in human behaviour. I construct (often building sets in the studio) a series of work from a concept, such as in the recent work – Unwrapped. Whichever method of construction used, I intend the images to be multi-layered and engage the viewer thoughtfully and aesthetically. My work is often vibrant, beautiful and seductive with a vein of humour, just as life should be, yet life is often not a bed of roses and the work often reveals a troubled society. Awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2018 IPA Photographer of the year. Finalist Award 2018 Fashion Photograph of the year - One Eyeland.
