About The Artwork
I am preparing work for exhibition and using the theme of Superimposed images. Early Pentax digital cameras had a filter called 'Superimpose'. Recently, I found a similar effect in software and concluded that the format would be of interest to the spectator. Skill: The argument is that the eye is equivalent to 50% of the artist's skill set. The hand, perhaps, occupies the first and important 25%. The question, I thought, is how close can one get to a painterly composition without painting? Ultimately, 100% of photography is 50% of a painting. Also, to what extreme does working in Colour and Chromatics effect the mood of the composition?

He won the Images of Bradford competition and has exhibited at Leeds Art Gallery. As an expressionist Michael has a fascination for breaking down photographic mechanisms, including: geometry, depth of field and focal length. He has developed his unique style while working with incompatible media, where he part-references the original photography. Ultimately, it is inevitable that, on occasion, his artwork becomes abstract.
