About The Artwork

EVERY DAY SELECTED SERIES A wide range of images inspired by the seemingly meaningless or randomness of them. Part allegory or reference. Part documentary for my own benefit; I enjoy making a memory out of an experience or imagined idea to look back on. Part series or theme with reoccurring ideas or images. I have always been interested in the questioning of our origins, history and purpose and how we accept the answers we may or may not find. A big part of this is the role of mythology and religion and how they have impacted our relationship with truth and the acceptance of truths. A regular style I like using is the ‘Inverse’ of an image and the suggestion of “the same, but different”. I find this quite relevant in the world today in trying to recognise that there is beauty in difference and sometimes there is no difference in the first place, just the perspective. I like the depth we miss in our everyday life. In many ways it’s a contradiction, like us. FISH A series of fish. I created a master image from a physical prop. Actually an old toy from the Stingray universe. I then used this to create different versions of the said same ‘FISH’. I quite like the versatility of fish, not just in their own species but also from food to beauty where depending on what fisherman you are, you either take pictures and throw them back, or eat them! OPHELIA AND CORDELIA A few excerpts from the narrative of our relationship written with Don Foreman: “I first met Ophelia and Cordelia in 2010 and, after some initial reservations, and as unlikely as it might sound, a relationship grew. The story they shared with me as the days passed did not provide the enlightenment I was hoping for. I innocently imagined that 'supernatural beings' would somehow be better than us; that they would have the answers, know the truth and hold the key to a brighter future. During our time together we debated the possibility of me taking photographs of them, similar to those pictures taken by Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths. Ophelia, needless to say, was firmly opposed, but Cordelia loved the idea and could not wait to pose for the camera. Her logic in reasoning with Ophelia won her over for me, because she convinced her that no-one would believe the pictures are real. Ultimately we decided that the telling of this story would strike a chord with those who seek the truth, and wouldn't for those who do not.”

"Try not to be a man of success, rather try to be a man of value." Albert Einstein. I like to think of myself as a traditionalist who likes trying new things... An eclectic range of interests, sometimes contradictory and including Star Wars. I take a lot of photos! Inspired by the seemingly meaningless or randomness of them. Part allegory or reference.
