Signed Limited Edition of 25 on Fine Art Paper. DATA RAIN is part of the Secret Alphabet Project, a series of drawings, photos, and collage in which people were painted with mysterious symbols, and then photographed. The project explores the concept of coded information, messages, knowledge, and information transfer. “I start by designing an ‘alphabet’ or a collection of symbols with a certain style or feel. Then the symbols are combined in certain patterns for placement on the body. A mask is cut for each group of symbols and placed on the model to be spray painted with body paint. This laborious process results in a beautifully painted body, ready to be photographed. The photos are then processed digitally, each one telling a part of the story about human communication, the upgrading of the genetic code, and the transfer of information.” The symbols of Secret Alphabets speak to us in a hidden language, a code that we can not decipher. They speak of mystery; they intrigue and entice us to unravel their message. In some instances, we can infer meaning, but at other times the meaning of the symbols is lost to us. We are, however, captivated by their beauty and the elegant simplicity of their form. DATA RAIN shows the process of human evolution through a download of new code which will replace the code that she is wearing. This image was taken with a digital camera and processed digitally.
