About The Artwork

The Port of Hamburg is a great source of inspiration for Rolf Krieger. Here he takes many photos from which he selects a few and creates works of art from them. The photo was taken in the port on Burchardkai, a large container loading in Hamburg. The light shines mystically on the ships and the water, the ship in the foreground seems to be moving. Just like the container cranes in the background. The artist calls the lines in the picture "lines of motion". They create the dynamic impression, movements become visible.

Rolf Krieger originally comes from photography. He got his first camera at the age of 12 and gained a lot of experience with the medium. When digital photography came on the market, he got his first digital camera and was fascinated by the incredible possibilities of digital photography. Then with Photoshop came the next level of digital image processing opened up for him. Krieger was born in Hildesheim near Hanover in 1960. He has lived and worked in Hamburg for 25 years. After working in business in 2014, he completely focused his work on art. Today he is the director of 3 galleries in Hamburg and has established many national and international contacts with artists. His works are inspired by daily life, by his environment and current issues of society and politics. Digital technology offers him almost unlimited possibilities. In addition to digital art, he also deals with works of art made of concrete, metal, wood and stone. He has developed a special material for this that he calls Fineart Poly Concrete. With it he forms figures and abstract works of art that are coveted by his collectors.
