Smooth, sinuous, expressionless and anorexic. Deprived of sexual organs, defenceless and vulnerable, sometimes nonchalantly decapitated, often faceless and frequently armless. Naked between costume changes, manhandled by window-dressers, skeletal coat-hangers clothed by our fleeting desires, our mundane fashion fantasies. Obedient sphinxes imprisoned in a play of reflections and protected from the all-too-human charade on the other side of the glass, the passing parade they disdainfully ignore."
