The two silicone rings, sprawling across the lips like chain links, echo the shackles with which Andromeda was bound to a rock. They represent those personal bonds and ties that keep us tethered in our everyday lives. However, the narrative's unexpected twist lies in the hue of the picture. The glaring magenta, reminiscent of a pulsating nightclub, brings to mind freedom, dance, and self-expression. It undercuts and contrasts with the solemn symbolism of the chains by pointing towards a state of liberation and self-actualization. The image reminds us that despite the shackles we carry, the opportunity for joy, expression, and transformation is always present.

The focus of ARTURUTRA is mouths. Yet these fragmented bodies do not conform to classical portraits. They often resemble staged still lifes. The works are characterized by a narrative ambiguity. The viewer sees and must fill in the missing elements themselves. Perhaps they view with the eyes constantly absent in the works. Then, the depicted mouths speak with the inner voice of the observer.
