Edge Of the Kingdom Photograph

In the spirit of my favorite landscape photographer, Peter Lik, I camped out at an RV park on the east coast of Florida as Hurricane Sandy approached. Many asked me if I was going to leave and find safety, I explained, “I’m staying and going out to take pictures.” I woke before sunrise and punched in the code to the gate for the entrance to Fort Pierce State Park and found a spot near the inlet barrier to watch the sunrise as the storm passed Florida. I held open the shutter, remaining as still as possible while the sand fleas tried to eat me alive and was graced with sun peaking out on the horizon.
