About The Artwork
El Capitan is a vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park, located on the north side of Yosemite Valley, near its western end. The granite monolith is about 3,000 feet from base to summit along its tallest face, and is a popular objective for rock climbers and other visitors. When the weather is not too hot or too cold, one can watch the progress of climbers during the day with binoculars, or at night and see the headlamps of climbers spending the night camping on the side of the cliff.
