Ships in a Tube
I’ve been taking this set of photos for 10 years already. I like this play of light, shadows and reflections in combination with people. It’s just an instant mostly, which will never happen again. Sometimes I need to wait for hours at one place to catch a right moment. I have never intended to put a hidden or deep meaning in my works. But I enjoy the result very much and the opportunity to share it with others. This feeling is close to the situation when you hear a foreign-language song you really like for the first time. You don’t understand the words and their meaning but shake your head to the rhythm with a big pleasure. And repeat the song again and again. The photo will be printed on photo paper with a 2 cm white border.

Russia
I was born and has grown up in Siberia, Russian city Novosibirsk, in an ordinary family. When I was a teenager I liked to shoot everything I saw around me but had never thought about the career of a photographer. I’ve got into the professional sphere accidentally. In 2010 I was offered to become a reporter in a business magazine where I was working as an editor’s assistant. I looked through the works of a previous photographer in his archive for many times. As a result, his photos influenced my further point of view on a reportage shooting a lot. From the one hand, reportage shooting for me is a documentary, truth, genuine emotions and real situations without rehearsals. But also I try to add some artistic components (geometry, lights and shadows) to all of it to make the final result not only a documentary picture. I started to explore the daily city’s life with my camera by taking particular events, people, objects and enduing them with absolutely new senses. Or I let a viewer fancy their own meaning of a picture. I’ve been working as a freelancer since 2018. I participate in commercial projects, take photos for websites/social media, create psychological portraits. Lately I’ve been interested in using surrealism in my works. It provides me a possibility to expand my creative skills, stand aside from documentary, enhance the image of a character or just hide myself from a daily reality.
