About The Artwork

I took the first power pole while tracing my childhood memories with my grandfather. The relationship I have with my grandparents is very powerful to me. My grandfather George installed telephone poles all across New Mexico for the majority his working adult life. He was a crafty guy always working on something to make money every time I got to see him. When I look at these poles now I think how hard he worked and how beautiful they are. The graphic contrast from highlight to shadow from the direct sun highlights the beauty. No two poles are identical even photographing the same pole from all four sides. They all have their own identity and story.

I am among the one in ten people that have dyslexia and that has shaped my life in many ways. I've never really talked about myself in general or been comfortable in front of a camera. Having dyslexia always kept me in the background I learned to keep quiet and tried to observe. Observing my surrounding listening watching things transpire and evolve is how I learn. A book is a roadblock a pile of letters and numbers that for the most part cause chaos and confusion in my mind. This had played a huge part in my photography. I find peace and clarity in driving, observing my surroundings being behind the camera chasing moments. My photographic work ranges from real life, landscapes, nature to abstract graphic shapes all things from observation. My images are mostly based on emotions some simple to see others are for the viewer to find. I hope you enjoy the images I create. 5% of my profits will go to the Gary Sinise Foundation. www.garysinisefoundation.org
