The series of photographs with the working title "Geothermals" shows fragments of geothermal power plants in Iceland. They pervade the landscapes and embody both power and fragility. It begs the question if the unpredictability of volcanic activity could suddenly put an end to this sophisticated technology. It is precisely this vulnerability that fascinated Meinrad Hofer about this topic. For him, the drill heads and grid systems of the pipelines, seemingly placed at random in the vast landscape, look like temporarily erected sculptures by an ‚Earth Works’ artist.
