Healing Abstract#38 - Limited Edition of 1 Photograph

While creating the series of photographs "Healing Abstract", I feel the manifestation of two parallel undercurrents. The first is a purely photographic search for a new way to channel the need for creative expression. I see the internal resonance with what is external as the harmony of composition, the geometry of planes and lines and the pictoriality and cosiness of chiaroscuro. Colours are associative additions that create a bond with the context. The second undercurrent consists of a sense of over-stimulation from narratives competing for my attention. I feel we have reached a critical mass. So much of "I'm great and wonderful". So much of "I will prove myself to you". So much of "buy me". You can then go to the mountains, out of town, into the woods and seek peace in the dullness of nature. I seek my solace in an image that, "says nothing", does not harass with others' dreams, does not attack with glittering narcissism. I seek abstractions that are clouds but are not literal clouds. Abstractions that are a moving flame but go beyond the context and predictability of the flame. I think I create something that calms, that soothes, that maybe even heals. I encapsulate this in the abstract forms of “untitled” paintings – so that they remain anonymously narrative-free. The ideal viewer will see themselves without the inner compulsion to create a concept, open to free associations. The ideal viewer will allow themselves to "breathe" the image without being consumed by naming. They will stop in it and look through it. They will allow themselves to look and not to think. Just feeling with being aware of this feeling. I hope I am finding a universal image. This picture is a single shot photography. This photography is printed in fine art Hahnemulle photo paper.
