Heron on Alert Photograph - Limited Edition of 25

I see the heron, the heron sees me. Rustling through thick brush along the edge of a waterway to get to less travelled areas where the birds feel less threatened by people. Moving slowly, and as quietly as I can, I spot this one through a small opening in the growth along the shore. The photo was taken in late October in the eastern US, so fallen leaves and a summer's worth of aquatic plants make for a unique background. Herons generally wade in the shallows and search for food in the water along the shoreline. They tend to exhibit some skill at selecting feeding areas that are not easily accessible from the shore, giving them some protection from land based predators.
