About The Artwork

Hidden in the dark My work focuses on the essence of human connection and longing. The central element of the photograph is two hands holding tightly to two vertical structures. The decision to banish the subjects in the dark allows for a universal interpretation and enhances the emotional depth of the moment. The hands themselves are bathed in a soft light that emphasizes their contours and radiates a certain warmth. This focus on the hands draws the viewer's attention to the pure gesture of connection, while the people hidden in the dark leave room for personal imagination and reflection. The choice of a dark background creates an intimate atmosphere, as if this scene is taking place in a shielded room, far away from outside influences. This work is my artistic reflection on the search for relationship, capturing both hope and the challenges of human closeness by highlighting the light of connection in the midst of metaphorical darkness.

My name is Franz Hein, I was born in Ehrstädt, now Sinsheim, in 1965 and spent a lot of time in my youth with my photographer grandfather. I currently live in northern Germany near the Dutch border in the far west. Influenced by my grandfather, I came into contact with photography at a very early age and pursued it as a hobby for a long time, whereby technique and creative development improved with age. Over the years I have photographed many things, but never felt the real satisfaction with my work. As I was self-taught in photography, it was natural to study the works of various artists and art movements in photography. That's how I finally found my passion for not only No, I find myself and my works predominantly in the conceptual black and white photography, which had its heyday in the 60s to the end of the 70s. The often very abstract features of my works reflect in a certain way today's zeitgeist. Some colorful abstract photographs also found their way into my online gallery, but the emphasis lies in the monochrome design with contrasts and the play with light and shadow as well as the reduction to the essential. My ambition is to create few, but unique and well elaborated art photographs instead of many works in series. works in series I would like to share with you.
