About The Artwork

Statement: Life makes impressions on my soul but nothing is cast in stone. Description: This photo was taken of a floor in a gallery. The ware and tare is symbolic of the scuffs and scrapes we pick up along our life's journey, but they don't have to deter us from being who and what we were created to be. This photography was part of my solo exhibition, "Metamorphosis," in Milan, Italy, 2013. http://www.statuto13.it/statuto13/eventi/Voci/2013/7/17_Kleoniky_Vanos.html This work is a diptych which means that you can either display one or both of the canvases next to each other. #3 in limited edition of 3. Printing Materials: Fine-Art Archival Giclee Paper | Diasec

I was born and raised in Vanderbijlpark, a small town in the Gauteng Provence of South Africa, in 1969. It's a heavily industrialised area where the sky is pale, grey, or brown. Not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, a friend suggested I further my education in photography. It was then that I found an outlet to the pressing need for expression, without the misunderstood external gesticulations that limit the souls' expression. The purpose behind my work is to share what I have learned, i.e. with every experience, the good and the bad, life loves, teaches, incubates, protects, nurtures, and sets us free to live and prosper if we so choose. At the age of 48, I left my hometown and moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where I currently reside, and the sky is always blue.
