About The Artwork

I have captured photos of many of the most loved landmarks of Exeter and sought to blend old and new in a unique way so that an overall impression of the city is revealed little by little taking the viewer on a tour from a single viewpoint. The artwork developed as I worked on it and chose the elements to include and the details to layer, in order to fit with the overall concept. Imagery includes The Quay, The Cathedral, the High Street, the Riddle sculpture, The House That Moved and an overlay of the ceiling of the Cathedral. hope that new details will emerge and delight the viewer over time.

Having always lived by the sea, I feel a strong connection to it. My studios in England and France are both close to the sea which helps me to recreate the myriad colours of the Mediterranean and the coastal waters of the UK in many of my paintings. I have been experimenting with resin for some time as it is quite a tricky medium to work with. By layering various translucent and metallic pigments the resulting painting looks glasslike as if you could dive right through it and the resin protects the image from damage and UV light. It can take many days to achieve the layers and ultimate finish but the jewel colours, the depth and light reflection properties of the finished pieces are even more amazing in real life. I have been a fine art photographer since 2007, I have a loyal following and my photographs sell worldwide many times per week. A longtime practitioner of yoga asana, I like to listen to vedanta talks and read about this branch of Hindu philosophy in which parallels between waves, oceans, infinity and pure consciousness are drawn. As well as nature and the oceans, I love colour, light and texture which have been the inspiration for my vibrant acrylic paintings of models I have photographed over the years. In some of my work I incorporate gold leaf to give highlights and a touch of luxury and sometimes my own photographic images have minerals, paint and resin added to them to create original artworks. l have so many ideas that I can't wait to share with you so watch this space! All original works are ready to hang and with a signed certificate of authenticity.
