For three years I devoted myself to producing 98 portraits of the artists and technicians who devoted all their talents to working with Ingmar Bergman. The highlight of this project was photographing Bergman, himself. One of only two portraits Bergman personally authorized -- the other by Irving Penn. This series was exhibited at Berlin Kinematheque in Berlin and at Art Photo Collection in Gothenburg. The Bank of Sweden subsequently chose my portrait of Ingmar Bergman to appear on their new 200sk bank note that was issued in late 2015. A great honor for me. This work was captured on black and white film using my Hasselblad camera in my unique style of portraiture.

I began working with Condé Nast Paris. This led to work with Vogue Hommes, Vogue Décoration, and Vogue Paris each of which gave me regular assignments that included not only portraits, but special assignments that included coverage of well-known vineyards in Bordelais, British aristocrats such as the Duchess of Devonshire and Viscount Linley, as well as Parisian haute couture. Next, I changed my focus to producing my own series of work beginning with a study on the five top colleges in Cambridge University, including portraits of not only professors, scientists, researchers, and college deans, but gardeners, porters, maids, butlers, and eventually students – each in their own environment. This series was exhibited at Christie’s London, King Street, Paris Galerie Demi-Teinte, and then published by Vogue Paris. Several of these portraits are also in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London. After producing a very intimate work on les Benedictines du Beguinage de Bruges, my attention turned to “my Swedish saga”…the artistic team of Ingmar Bergman in Stockholm. And, for three years I devoted myself to producing 98 portraits, plus one of Bergman himself. One of only two portraits of Bergman that he personally authorized -- the other by Irving Penn. This series was exhibited at Berlin Kinematheque in and at Art Photo Collection in Gothenburg. The Bank of Sweden subsequently chose my portrait of Ingmar Bergman to appear on their new 200sk bank note that was issued in late 2015. A great honor for me. Next was a work on semi-tropical plants in Sintra, Portugal. Actually, in a garden frequented by Lord Byron in the early nineteenth century. This series was selected as the winner of the Hasselblad World Master Award in and was also exhibited at the Galerie Armelle Toublanc in Paris. The Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation chose to buy the several limited prints of this series. I think of myself as traveling from the XVIII century through the XXI century with my Hasselblads and Leicas embarking on a visual and photographic journey of discovery that never ends. My work is produced in extremely limited editions. Usually, only two prints of any photograph are ever available. Platinum palladium prints are available upon request.
