About The Artwork

I try to go into the Cedarberg mountains near to Cape Town regularly and swim in the fresh water rivers. I was swimming around photographing the underside of water lilies when I turned and saw my friend Jan stepping on to the rocks to get out. It was a precarious situation and I was lucky enough to turn and catch her just as she stepped. I feel like this photo caught that element of being nervous that one might slip

Keri is multi-disciplinary artist and underwater photographer. More recent work includes explorations into print making, underwater photography and watercolour. This work explores her love of the ocean and specifically False Bay in Cape Town. Her sculptural work focuses on using found books and plastics. Additionally she works with raw materials, crystals and wood, to create to totems celebrating the commodities our earth provides. Her method involves reconstituting this range of objects into artworks that are organic in presentation, attempting to link an artwork and its materials back to its original source.
