The burning of Judas in Mexico is one of the traditions of the Catholic religion in which the triumph of good over evil is celebrated, hence the figure to burn is that of a devil. This figure made of cardboard refers to Judas Iscariot, the man of betrayal and gave Jesus in exchange for a silver coin, but not bearing the charge of conscience ends up hanging in a tree. It is because of this story that this name is named that is burned in Holy Week.
